9 Million Passengers Transported by Air during 2023 Chinese New Year Holiday30/01/2023

From January 21 to 27, 2023 (the eve and the first six days of Chinese New Year), 9 million passengers were transported by air, an increase of 79.8% over that of 2022. All civil aviation entities have faithfully acted on the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, learned and implemented earnestly the instructions made by President Xi Jinping on the transport of passengers during the Chinese New Year, firmly carried out the arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, strictly followed the requirements and overarching plan on securing transport during the festival, firmly guarded against the COVID-19 and ensured operation safety, and made concrete efforts in improving supporting capacity and service quality. Thanks to these efforts, the industry has accommodated relatively intensive travel demands of home-going passengers and return to work or school and ensured safe and smooth transport throughout the holiday.

The average passenger load factor of flights in the seven-day holiday reached 76%, 20 percentage points higher than that in 2022; a total of 83,844 flights were operated with an average of 11,977 flights per day, an increase of 33.6% over that of 2022; and the flight regularity reached 98.2%, up by 1.1 percentage points from 2022.
